So when the vgc20 format was announced I got quite excited
as there were according to the new ruleset of the format, will be allowing
specific gigantamax pokemon to be featured into these games, most noticeably
including the gigantamax snorlax and gigantamax butterfree whose gmax moves are
going to stir up the format and will leave you to find good answers for them.
after seeingsome very noticeable flaws in my drifdede team, I decided to move
format and work on a sort of a timeless combination of mons that will favor me
in modification as the format goes on, especially with the suspected release of
pokemons like gigantamax grimmsnarl as well as gigantamax gengar. The one and
only pokemon that caught my eye when doing so was galarian weezing, noticing
how many of the teams in this format relied around their abilities, mainly
prankster for whimsicott and grimmsnarl, justified for lucario and arcanine as
well as seeing much of levitate carrying rotom’s variety I thought that one of
the better ways to deal with this format would be to start off building around
a weezing
Knowing how I like my offensive style of play and being aware f weezings amazing move coverage I decided to give a chance to galarian weezing with an assault vest. Originally starting out with a dragon fairy steel core of hydreigon, weezing and corviknight and adding in the fwg core of cinderace, dracovish and whimsicottt, I soon fell in love with what I’ll call the ultimate lead of whimsicott + weezing and following is the reason why:
· Weezing’s neutralizing gas on leads stops any weather leads as their abilities do not activate
· Weezing’s presence also scores out any justified + beat up leads as justified won’t work
· Most noticeably weezing has the capability of easily outspeeding and hitting grimmsnarl with a super effective attack and makes it lose its priority bracket due to neutralizing gas.
· Paired up with whimsicott this disruptive combination becomes an offensive threat
· Weezing can go for dyamax making it much bulkier than normal and release a barrage of wide type coverage special attacks which can also set up misty terrain which stops any status schenanigans or boost its teammates’ special attack by using max ooze which also makes it successively powerful.
· Tailwind gives it amazing speed too which is much needed for it to favor the team in the first few turns of dynamax
· Fake tears also makes weezing an offensive threat.
This combination overall has the potential to age well, looking forward to gmax grimmsnarl mainly and has an amazing presence and impact to the current meta as a lead.
The current team is what I like being a core of whimsi, weezing on the lead with dracovish and corviknight in the back, the strategy usually revolves around getting rid of x mon that threatens corviknight to allow it to set up and win the end game, with threats of this core being scarfed rotom, arcanine, rock slide spams and trick room, which the last two slots need to cover, will soon be coming out with the full version.
