I started out this team with the concept of a
vanilluxe.vanilluxe has a lot o potential in this metagame I think. Vanilluxe is
able to hit a lot of pokemon with freeze dry for super effective damage. Dracovish,
gyarados and gastrodon all fall to it, furthermore the ever rising population
for dragapult and togekiss, alongside rising populations of whimsicott and
mudsdale is going to make vanilluze worth using, not to mention that it an also
use aurora veil if needed to boost both special defense and defense of its team
members and provide weather disruption. You can do a lot with this mon and I wanted
to try it.
After vanilluxe at first came a series of ideas including
arctovish, to further increase the blizzard spamming on this team and then a dusclops
to abuse tr alongside conkeldurr to handle sand, which was looking to be the
end of this team. I worked around that core for a while, until things seemed a
bit lackluster for it. One combination I spontaneously put on the team and
ended up absolutely adoring was arctovish pivoting in games between an
offensive dynamaxed jellicent and vanilluze’s blizzard spamming, later this
idea evolved into a more bulky concept of self surfing for both these mons
carrying water absorb. I decided on putting a ground and fairy type and with
the trick room nature of the team I felt like I needed these two to cover up
the weaknesses. Then came a gallade to be put on this team which made it so
much more fun and gave it a rather whacky but fun looking beat up vanilluxe +
gallade justified combination, furthermore combining it with gallade’s drain
punch, this combination could help me pick up more slower and defensive teams
in the format who particularly don’t expect gallade.
This team is something that im finally getting a bit happy
with the composition of and happy to have build around a vanilluxe. I will
surely further develop this team in the future when I have the time to as
currently I am entangled in other studies stuff so do keep a watch out for this
team with updated items, movesets and evs spreads as I feel happy about the
members.
